It was because of Calen that the Kanda-Suropik were created, as he proved that he could get close enough to kill the Kanda of the League when challenged, unfortunately dying during this event due to failing health from a lifetime of extreme strain on both his body and soul; which was propagated as a failed assassination attempt by the humans, causing a political war that ultimately ended with the creation of the near-immortal species, along with the pledge to serve under the League, lest be killed.

Due to the brutal way of life most of his years consisted of, Calen developed various skills in multiple areas that made him an extremely dangerous being, at one point even being considered one of the greatest warriors in Human history, as he was capable of doing feats never seen before or since.
Considered by those who knew him to be the best duelist in history, being an incredibly skilled melee fighter before he was swallowed by the BeHeMoth, and unmatched after escaping it, Calen's ability with various martial arts is still recognized by many groups within the League.
On top of his high skill is martial arts, Calen was also unparalleled in the manipulation of Pryacelsius, an ability which allowed him to perform various acts that seemed super-human and unnatural. Calen was so good at manipulating the creatures, that he didn't even require a Nuth'Xilmion to do so, being one of the few in history to be capable of incredible feats without the requirement of one.
