Dean Matroni
"N/A" - Dean "Deadhand" Matroni
History
Born to a mother that didn't want him, Dean's first home was the maternity ward until a mysterious man adopted him. Taken to Quinn's Market, an underground lab that made illegal D.M.s who were then sold to the highest bidder.
Known as Number 15 within the lab, he was observed, experimented on, and cloned several times until he was fourteen, when he used his powers to break out of the facility. Letting himself loose on a world he barely knew anything about.
The next three years of his life was spent as a miscreant and borderline terrorist in some situations, and was soon caught, being sent to Garner State Prison, where he was rehabilitated. One year of failed prison breaks and bad food later, he was sent to another, more secure facility, Hilmand Correctional Center.

Dean secrets sulfur, which he is able to compress and upon striking something with his hands is able to turn into an explosion.
Core Mechanism: Dean’s body naturally secretes trace amounts of sulfur through his pores, particularly on his hands. He can control this process consciously, allowing him to gather and compress the sulfur into a volatile form. When he clasps his hands or slams them onto a surface, the pressure and friction ignite the sulfur, creating controlled explosions.
Detailed Explanation
- Secretion Mechanics:
- The sulfur secretion isn’t constant; it’s triggered by his adrenaline or focused effort. This prevents accidental explosions while providing a tactical layer to his abilities.
- His hands and fingertips are the primary points of secretion. He might notice a faint yellowish residue or smell the sharp odor of sulfur when he’s "charged."
- Compression and Ignition:
- Dean can compress the sulfur between his palms, molding it into a compact, highly reactive state.
- By applying intense pressure (clasping his hands or pressing them against a surface), the friction generates heat, causing the sulfur to ignite.
- The explosion’s intensity depends on how much sulfur he has accumulated and compressed.
- Explosive Effects:
- Small Charges: Quick compressions create small, controlled detonations—useful for precision attacks or distractions.
- Larger Blasts: If he has time to build up and compress more sulfur, he can produce more devastating explosions.
- Contact Explosions: Directly slapping or grabbing an enemy allows him to channel the detonation into them, making it exceptionally deadly in close combat.
- Side Effects and Risks:
- Skin Sensitivity: The secretion and compression can irritate his skin over time, leaving his hands blistered or scarred.
- Exhaustion: The process requires energy, especially for larger explosions. Overuse could leave him physically drained or temporarily unable to secrete more sulfur.
- Odor: The sulfur has a distinct, acrid smell, making it nearly impossible for him to remain stealthy after using his power extensively.
Visual and Sensory Enhancements
- Appearance: When charging up, his palms might emit faint wisps of yellow vapor, the compressed sulfur releasing small plumes.
- Sound: Each detonation starts with a high-pitched hiss, followed by a sharp, concussive blast.
- Feel: The explosions aren’t just fiery—they have a tactile force, throwing debris or people back violently.
How This Shapes His Fighting Style
- Close Combat Specialist: Dean thrives in melee combat, using his power to overpower enemies with brutal, close-range explosions.
- Environmental Destruction: He can blast through walls, doors, or obstacles by strategically applying his power.
- Resource Management: Since he needs to "charge up" his explosions, he must pick his moments carefully, adding a tactical element to his fights.
Trivia
With memories of his original, Dean refuses to accept that he is actually a clone, with his original actually being Rufio Bardock.
