- Sydney grew up in a life of wealth and privilege, living in a sprawling, modern estate in an affluent neighborhood. Her father’s role at ZerdinTech ensured that she never wanted for anything materially.
- The mansion was cold and impersonal, more a showpiece for Jonathan’s success than a home. Sydney’s room was the only space filled with warmth—decorated with her art supplies, sketches, and paintings that spilled across the walls.
- Servants catered to her every need, but she felt isolated. Her father’s presence was overbearing yet distant, and her interactions with him were more like those of an employee reporting to a boss than a daughter with her parent.
- Her Step-Mother:
- Jonathan remarried when Sydney was ten. Her stepmother, Helena, was a calculating socialite who married Jonathan for his wealth and status. Helena viewed Sydney as an obstacle—a reminder of Jonathan’s first wife—and treated her coldly, though never outright cruelly.
- Helena often undermined Sydney’s attempts to connect with her father, insisting that Sydney’s creative pursuits were a distraction and encouraging Jonathan to mold her into a proper “successor” to his ambitions.
- A Half-Brother:
- Helena and Jonathan had a son, Charles, when Sydney was thirteen. Charles, now in his early teens, was everything Jonathan wanted—a charming, ambitious boy groomed to follow in his father’s footsteps.
- Though younger than Sydney, Charles often patronized her, repeating Helena’s jabs about her being “the artist” while he was “the achiever.” Despite his arrogance, there were rare moments when he showed genuine affection, especially when they were left alone without their parents’ watchful eyes.
- Wealth’s Curse:
- Sydney’s family wealth granted her access to elite schools, exclusive events, and luxury vacations. However, her privileged status isolated her from genuine relationships.
- Friends at school often used her for her wealth or connections, and Sydney learned to guard her emotions, fearing they would be exploited.
- Art as Solace:
- Art became Sydney’s refuge from the sterile perfection of her home life. She often painted abstract pieces reflecting her inner turmoil, finding comfort in creating something uniquely her own.
- Her father and stepmother saw her art as a childish hobby, encouraging her to pursue “real” achievements like business or law.
- Jonathan Clarke was the epitome of a self-made man, clawing his way to the middle tier of ZerdinTech’s corporate ladder. His obsession with control and legacy shaped his parenting style, leading him to treat Sydney as a project rather than a person.
- He valued results over relationships, and his love was conditional on Sydney meeting his impossible standards. When she showed promise in academics, he praised her; when she pursued art, he ignored her.
- The betrayal of framing her for his crimes came with a twisted rationalization—he believed that sacrificing her would protect the family’s wealth and status, particularly for Charles, whom he saw as the “true heir.”
- Sydney’s world came crashing down when ZerdinTech’s internal audits uncovered the corruption in Jonathan’s department.
- Jonathan, desperate to protect himself and his family, planted evidence to make it appear that Sydney had been involved in falsifying documents and laundering money.
- Using his connections, Jonathan orchestrated her swift arrest, ensuring she would be sent to Ashgate before she could defend herself. He convinced himself it was a necessary evil to preserve the family’s status, fully believing she would survive and eventually forgive him.
- Sydney’s memories of her arrest are a blur of disbelief and fear. She clung to the hope that her father would intervene, only to learn he had orchestrated the entire ordeal.
- During her transfer to Ashgate, she was mocked by the guards for being a “rich girl” who didn’t belong, further compounding her shame and alienation.
Voluptuous young girl with three powers; Telepathy, Mental Suggestion, and Electricity Manipulation.
As a young girl, Sydney found that she always knew what people wanted, regardless of the situation. She would later come to know she had some innate sense of mind reading, as she made use of it to her advantage, always being able to get her way or know the answer to her tests. She wasn't dumb, though, she used this ability to train her mind as well, learning of many things when she shouldn't have. She eventually was able to focus in and learn to control her power, able to keep herself from reading some peoples minds, as she soon discovered she could do more than simply read peoples minds-- She could speak with people within their own minds, something she took advantage of quite often, and would develop it further to include implanting suggestions a bit deeper into their mind, making them do *exactly* what she wanted them to. Afterwards, in her teen years, she discovered she could manipulate some electricity, and wavelengths of electricity, causing her to be able to cause quite some mischief as she pranked her friends and family, and also refined it as a good method of self defense.
Eventually, it caught up to her, as she tried to use her ability after graduation to convince people to get her money, and take her to college, as an investigation was called upon her, and she was promptly escorted to the nearby prison, specifically for this reason. (Maybe? Not sure exactly how this would go, feel free to suggest something different)
She is known to tease, but is nothing more than that; She has always been too nervous to follow through, and if a situation seems to risque or dicey, she would often make mental suggestions to lead them away.
She has used her powers in a violent way before, fending off some people that stalked her one night, as well as against targets and wild animals that attacked her.
Electric Kiss: Sydney gathers background energy/electricity around her, pulling in towards a single point- her lips, as she proceeds to smooch, or blow a kiss, releasing the energy either in a beam towards a target, or directly, and violently, transferring it into them at close range
